Quick Tips to Beautifying Your Skin from the Inside

Looking young requires beautiful skin, which means it’s essential to have a skin care routine. Most of us know how important it is to keep our skin clean and well-moisturized. However, many of us fail to realize how important it is to nourish our skin from the inside: by what we put into our bodies. Your skin will look younger and healthier than ever when you follow these healthy skin care tips.

Protect Your Skin From the Sun

The first and most important rule of maintaining beautiful skin is simple. Make sure you protect your skin from the sun. Protect it on sunny days with a high SPF sunscreen and a hat, but be sure to do the same on cloudy days, too. Sun exposure and sunburns lead to skin damage, skin cancer and premature aging. Do the smart thing and stick to the shade.

Don’t Smoke (or Quit)

While cigarettes are horrible for your lungs, the damage that they do isn’t just limited to your respiratory system. The chemicals you ingest are bad for your heart and other organs, including your skin. Smoking can lead to premature aging, fine lines and wrinkles, and skin that looks generally unhealthy.

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

When you’re dehydrated, one of the first places it shows is your face. Your skin begins to look dry, pinched and flaky. Failure to properly hydrate can cause wrinkles on the thin skin of the face over time. When you feel thirsty, you’re already dehydrated. Instead of waiting for this cue from your body, drink continuously throughout the day. You’ll need around 64 ounces of water (or more) each day for proper hydration. Beverages that contain caffeine act as diuretics, so they don’t count towards your total hydration goal.

Supplement Your Skincare Routine

Chances are you’re already applying cleansers, moisturizers, and toners to your skin externally to even skin tone and reduce the appearance of fine lines. However, you can add punch to your skincare routine by supplementing your diet, as well. Consider adding the following supplements to your daily routine:

Calcium: These supplements help support facial bone structure, keeping your facial bones strong as you age. Keeping your facial structure strong and healthy helps wrinkles and fine lines appear less pronounced. A strong foundation is everything.

High Quality Multivitamin: Vitamin C and Vitamin E are especially important for healthy skin, hair and nails. Check to see that your multivitamin includes the recommended daily allowance of these important vitamins and, if it doesn’t, consider adding them individually. Vitamin E can be ingested or applied to the skin topically.

Taking care of your skin isn’t just about applying the right anti-aging cream or using the correct makeup. Instead, it’s a lifelong pursuit — one that will show results both immediately and long term. You’ll have “the skin you’re in” for the rest of your life, so take excellent care of it. Whether you do or don’t, the results will be obvious.
